Obituary

Teodoro ”Ted” Munoz Brizuela, 95, passed away on May 23, 2018 at his home
surrounded by family and loved ones in Ojai, California. He was born on March 26,
1923 in San Juan De Los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico to Antonio Brizuela and Silvina Munoz.
Teodoro arrived in the USA in the early 1950’s to work as a laborer under the Bracero
Program. He was assigned to Campo Buenavista in Oxnard where he worked as a
cook.
From late 1950 to late 1970 Teodoro worked in construction as a Concrete Finisher and
was a union member of the Cement Masons of Southern California.
In the 1970’s Teodoro and his late wife Delfina opened restaurants in Ventura (Ted &
Babe’s), and the Ojai Valley (La Plaza and La Placita). They settled in Ojai where they
operated the Ojai locations until retirement in mid-1980.
After retirement Teodoro enjoyed studying the Bible, visits from family and friends,
growing his own garden, working around the house, and sitting in downtown Ojai
offering advice to the many friends he met there.
Teodoro was preceded in death by his wife Delfina “Babe” Brizuela, his son Anthony
Brizuela, and his daughter Romelia Brizuela Jimenez.
Teodoro is survived by his daughters Kris English (Robert), Amalia Brizuela (Mexico),
and his son Tommy Brizuela (Irma). He was blessed with eight grandchildren, eighteen
great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces
and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at The Lighthouse Church 8699 Henderson Road,
Ventura, California, 93004 at 10:00-11:00am on June 16 th 2018. Burial will follow at Ivy
Lawn Memorial Park 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura, California 93003.
