C. Christine Maynard, 81
Former South School Teacher
C. Christine Maynard passed away on February 22, 2018, after an unfortunate fall and a prolonged hospitalization.
She grew up on the Phillips Academy campus where her father taught math. She went to Abbot Academy, then Boston University where she obtained her Bachelor's and Master's in Education. She will be remembered by many as an avid traveler and a dedicated third grade teacher at South School who helped shape many children's lives. She founded the C. Christine Maynard Book Fund which continues to provide books annually to South School. She was an active Garden Club member for many years in both Andover and Wolfeboro. She loved sitting on her porch overlooking Lake Winnepesaukee each summer, as well as enjoying Friday lunches at the local VoTech with good friends. She was a collector extraordinaire, inspired by her work many summers ago at Black's Gift Shop in Wolfeboro. An avid Patriots fan, she knew every player and play - with a fondness for Tom Brady. She even graced the stadium with her presence one memorable game, although she preferred watching from her home. She was meticulous and precise, and extremely generous.
She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Clara Maynard.
Burial was private, with a celebration of her life to follow in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire this summer. Arrangements were made by Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home of Andover. Memorial contributions may be made out to the C. Christine Maynard Scholarship - a scholarship fund she initiated and funded for graduates of Andover High School for the college study of elementary education in the hopes that the recipients will return to serve in the Town of Andover.
