Augusta, GA – Dr. Thomas Scott Key, 68, beloved husband of Julia Key, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Robert D. Fain, Rev. Lynn B. Prather, Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger, and Rev. Dr. Talmadge Bowden officiating.
Scott was born at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA to the late Mary Elizabeth and Francis Key. Scott was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary with a degree in Chemistry. He graduated from Emory University School of Medicine and served in the Army, primarily at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He was a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. After completing his military service, he practiced cardiology at University Hospital and St. Joseph's/Trinity Hospital in Augusta for many years.
He was a member of the vestry of The Church of the Good Shepherd and served on the board of the Episcopal Day School.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son; Thomas Key (Melissa) of Springboro, OH, daughter; Pamela Bishop (Christopher) of Gilbert, AZ, sister; Ellen Banks, five grandchildren; Nicholas Key, Samuel Key, Alexander Key, Sophia Bishop, and Faith Bishop.
The family will receive friends in the parish hall following the interment in the churchyard.
