In Raynham, May 23, 2018, Dorothea (Prairie) Lucey, Age 96, passed away peacefully in Life Care Center of Raynham while surrounded by her loving family. Dorothea was the wife of the late John F. Lucey. She was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Ernest & Florence (McCarthy) Prairie. Dorothea resided all her life in Taunton. She was educated in Taunton and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Dorothea was the President of the Resident Council at the Life Care Center; she was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother who cherished her time with family. Dorothea is survived by her children, John F. Lucey of Lakeville, James G, Lucey of Taunton, Mary Jane Pontes and her husband Thomas of Milton, Dr. Paul D. Lucey and his wife Lauren of Atlantic Beach, FL. She also leaves her grandchildren, Anna Neely, Matthew and Corey Pontes, Patrick Lucey, Kathleen Pontes, James, Connor and Claire Lucey, her great grandchildren, Isobel and Nathaniel and her late grandson John “Jack” Lucey. Dorothea was the last of her surviving siblings, Ronald, James, Roger Prairie, Kathleen O’Keefe, Norma Janis and Robert Prairie. Funeral services are private at the request of the family and burial will be in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton on Saturday, June 9th at 10 am. to which all are invited. Arrangements are under the care of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
