WORCESTER-Edna M. (Hines) Eaton, 96, of 20 Mary Scano Drive, died Wednesday, November 16th in the Christopher House. Her husband Edward H. Eaton died in 1977. She leaves 2 daughters; Elizabeth A. Wife of James A. Dowd, Jr. of Worcester and Mary F. wife of Norman L. Beland of Westborough, 2 grandchildren; James Dowd of Worcester and Christopher Dowd of Shrewsbury. 3 brothers; James, Henry and Paul Hines predeceased her.
She was born in Hopkinton the daughter of Henry S. and Elizabeth M. (Sweeney) Hines. Mrs. Eaton was a graduate of Commerce High School. She had been employed in the billing department of the former Norton Company from 1925 until 1940 and later for the City of Worcester working in the auditing and payroll departments in Worcester City Hall from 1964 until her retirement in 1976. Mrs. Eaton was a member of Christ the King Parish, its Woman’s Guild, the Anna Maria College Parents Guild and a former member of St. Pius the X Church. She was active with the Brownie and Girl Scouts at Christ the King Church. Mrs. Eaton especially enjoyed time spent with her family, living at the Cape, and was an avid reader of mysteries.
The funeral is Saturday, November 19th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, November 18th from 3:00 until 6:00 PM in the funeral home.
