Mr. Robert (Bob) Arthur Lodi, Sr. of Somerville, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the age of 87.
Bob was born to Umberto and Catherine (Razzaboni) Lodi on November 6, 1930. He was a lifelong resident of Somerville.
Bob married Charlotte Ann (Smith) April 8, 1961 at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Boston. Many have said this was the best decision he made in his life.
As an entrepreneur, he was the proud owner for many years of R.A. Lodi and Son, a trucking business. A jack-of-all-trades (although he joked he was a master of none) he left behind a beautifully renovated home in Grafton, NH. Bob was as a Mason for over 40 years who served as past Master along with being a Joseph Warren medal recipient (the 2nd highest honor granted by the Grand Lodge of Freemasons in Massachusetts). His interests included coin collecting, model trains and bird watching, but later in his life it was with a dog or cat - along with family - that Bob most likely could be found spending his time.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife Charlotte of 57 years, his son Robert A. Lodi, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Chelmsford, his daughter Diane N. (Lodi) Donovan and husband Terrence of Maynard, his granddaughters Gwyneth and Delia Donovan, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, the late Eleanor Restighini and husband Peter, the late Irene Vitiello and husband Amadeo, and the late Humbert Lodi and surviving wife Joan of Lexington.
The family gives many thanks to the hospice nurses and aides.
