Clara L. Hughes, 83, of Rockland passed away peacefully on May 23rd surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Robert J. Hughes Sr. for 63 years.
Clara was a resident of Rockland for 55 years and a parishioner at Holy Family Church. Clara was devoted to her family. She was so fortunate to stay at home and raise her children. Clara loved to cheer on the Patriots and above all else spend time with her family. Family was everything to her.
Clara is survived by her son Michael and his wife Tammy, of Carver and her daughter Laurie and her husband Chris Gola, of Quincy. She was the loving mother of the late Robert J. Hughes Jr., Linda Coughlin and John Hughes. Clara is also survived by her sister Terry Keane and her husband Pat of Medford and her son-in-law, Bob Coughlin of Rockland. Clara was the proud and loving Nana to Scott Smith and his fiancée Heather Salvucci and their daughter Gianna, Bobby and Keith Coughlin, Samantha Hughes, Courtney Hughes and Maddy Gola. She was also a loving Great Nana to Johnathan. Clara was a very proud aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Tuesday, May 29th at 8:15am from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00am at Holy Family Church, Rockland. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 28th.
