Barbara F. Gannon, 92

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Barbara F. (Curtin) Gannon, age 92, a resident of the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield, formerly of Centerville and Medfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent G. Gannon, to whom she was wed for fifty-two years at the time of his death in 2001.

Born in West Haven, CT on October 15, 1925, she was a loving daughter of the late John Curtin and Rosalie (Wrigglesworth) Erlandson.

Barbara grew up and was educated in Queens, New York and attended school for fashion in New York. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past eight years.

A former resident of Centerville and Medfield, Mrs. Gannon had worked as a secretary for the Town of Mashpee and previously was employed at DeWolfe Realty in Medfield.

While living in Centerville, she was an active member of Our Lady of Victory Church. She loved spending time with her family, shopping, sewing, gardening, staying up on current fashion and traveling with her late husband.

She is survived by her devoted daughters Randal E. Groza and her husband Michael of Hawaii, Michele G. Landon and her husband Robert of Mansfield, Roberta L. Coleman and her husband Richard of North Carolina, Kimberly A. Henderson and her husband John of Wrentham, and Jacquelyn Gannon and her significant other Barry Shannon of Wrentham. She was the dear sister of the late John Curtin, and is also survived by her cherished 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne 12:30 P.M.

Visiting hours are omitted. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
