Leo V. Lombardo, Jr., 76

Dateline; Norton, MA

Leo V. Lombardo, Jr., age 76, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, He was the beloved husband of Mary (Coughlin) Lombardo, to whom he was wed on September 5, 1964.

Born in Boston, MA on October 9, 1941, he was a loving son of the late Leo V., Sr. and Laura A. (Cavanaugh) Lombardo.

Leo grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Dorchester. He was educated at St. Matthew’s School in Dorchester and was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in Boston. He also served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Lombardo worked as an Iron Worker for Local 7 Iron Workers Union in Boston. He had made his home in Norton since 1971.

His family was truly the focal point of his life. Leo was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will always be known to his family as “Worlds Greatest Papa”.

He had a life long love for the game of baseball and was an avid Red Sox fan. However his favorite games to attend and cheer on were those of his grandchildren, always offering a wealth of instruction and support to them.

In addition to his wife of nearly fifty-four years, he is survived by his devoted children Christopher M. Lombardo and his wife Beth of Norton, Mary E. Lizotte and her husband Wade of Rehoboth, Denise M. Curran and her husband Greg of North Attleboro and Jonathan L. Lombardo of Norton. He was the treasured and proud grandfather of Victoria, Michaela, Jordan, Abigayle, Michael, Daniel, Leo, Owen, Josh, Patrick and Nora. He was the dear brother of the late Carol Brown, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a celebration of his life on Monday, May 28th from 2:00-6:00 P.M. at the North Attleboro Elks, 52 Bulfinch St., North Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, Leo’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Dana -Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston MA 02215
