SPRINGFIELD ~ Lina (Fradette) Rouillard, 88, of the North End section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, May 20, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Armagh, Province of Quebec, Canada on August 31, 1929, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa (Theberge) Fradette. She was raised and schooled in Canada, immigrated to the United States in 1956 and settled in the North End section of Springfield. Lina was a well-known seamstress in Canada and Springfield and was often sought out by many people for her expertise. Lina enjoyed quilting and made over 400 quilts which she gave to her family and many friends. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and Our Lady of Hope Church, both in Springfield. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Emile J. Rouillard. They were married in Canada on August 15, 1951 and were blessed with over 66 years of happiness together. She also leaves her five loving children, Denise L. Gaumond and her husband, Leonard, of Spotsylvania, VA, Rene Rouillard and his wife, Leslie, of Wendell, NC, Real A. Rouillard and his wife, Joy, of South Hadley, Doris L. Kolodziej and her husband, William, of West Springfield and Diane M. Mercier and her partner, Mark Sabourin, of Chicopee; her eight cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Marc Gaumond and his wife, Sarah, Michael Gaumond, Dr. Katherine Rouillard, Nicholas Rouillard, Jason Kolodziej and his wife, Debbie, Brian Kolodziej and his wife, Tiara, Michelle Girard and her fiancé, Jeff, and Jill Girard and her partner, Joe; her seven cherished great-grandchildren, Timothy LaPalme, Chloe Gaumond, Olivia Gaumond, Katherine Kolodziej, Joey Kolodziej and twins, Jacob and Jack Kolodziej; her loving brothers and sisters in the United States and Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Rouillard and Fradette families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her three loving grandchildren, Robert Gaumond, Julie Rouillard and Jennifer Kolodziej LaPalme. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Friday morning, May 25, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will be private at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.
