Teresia Vaughn Olivis, age 70 of Water Valley, MS passed away peacefully on May 19, 2018, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.
Teresia was born November 25, 1947 in Water Valley, MS, the daughter of Houston and Jenny Lou Vaughn. Teresia was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her little dog, Lu. Teresia graduated from Water Valley High School in 1966 and continued her education at Northwest Community College in Senatobia, MS. She was an active, lifelong member of First Christian Church of Water Valley, MS. On February 24,1979, Teresia married the love of her life, Larry Fred “Pete” Olivis. They made their home in Water Valley and shortly afterward welcomed a daughter. The two were happily married for sixteen years, until Pete’s unexpected passing in August, 1995.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at First Christian Church of Water Valley, MS with Bro. David Freeman officiating.
Teresia is survived by her daughter, Wendy Olivis Pratt (Chad) of Water Valley; two grandchildren, Olivia and Pete Pratt of Water Valley; two sisters, Alice Allen (Jim) of Oxford, MS and Judy (Bill) Lantrip of Southaven, MS; two brothers, David Vaughn of Olive Branch, MS and Kenny Vaughn (Bonnie) of Ashland, KY; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Houston Greenwood and Jenny Lou Simpson Vaughn; her husband, Larry Fred “Pete” Olivis; her sister, Diane Sexton and a sister-in-law, Janice Vaughn.
