Obituary

BELMONT-----Arthur “Artie” D. Wakefield, 84, of Silkwood Avenue, died on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born on May 9, 1934, in Moultonboro, the son of Arthur A. and Elinor (Bodge) Wakefield.
Artie was a heavy equipment operator for Ambrose Construction of Meredith and for 38 years for R. S. Audley Inc. of Bow. He enjoyed working, he loved his bulldozer, and was instrumental in building many of the highways in New Hampshire and Maine. In his spare time, he loved NASCAR racing, and was a long-time fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Anne (Whiting) Wakefield, of Belmont; sons, Dennis Wakefield (Bonnie Whitney), Gary Wakefield, and John (Mary) Wakefield, all of Moultonboro; daughters, Marilyn Pollman (Robert Carney) of Franklin, Gloria Malcolm of Palm Coast, FL, and Gail Wakefield of Salem, MA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Espha Wakefield and Francine Hoyt (JB); brothers Henry (Mary) Wakefield and Edwin (Sandra) Wakefield, all of Moultonboro. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brothers, Jeremy Wakefield, Wayne Wakefield, and Francis Hoyt.

At his request, there will be no services. For those who wish to remember Artie, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Michael J.
