Obituary

Mr. Roland G. J. Courcy, of Taunton, entered into rest Wednesday, May 16 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was the former husband of Margaret R. (Wynn) Joubert. He was born 70 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Armand and Germaine (Anctil) Courcy. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Roland had been employed in Maintenance for the City of Taunton Housing Authority for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, and was awarded the RVN Cross of Gallantry. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Norton. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, carpentry, camping, and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Parish in Taunton.

He leaves: 3 sons: Roland M. “Mark” Courcy, Randy C. Courcy, and Chad M. Courcy, all of Taunton; 1 daughter: Tyna M. Courcy Landry of Taunton; 2 brothers: Charles J. Courcy of Taunton, and Jean J. Courcy of Waterford, Maine; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, May 19 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private at the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
