WORCESTER: Denise E. (Rioux) Zuschlag, 57, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday morning, May 15, 2018, after a long, hard battle with cancer. Denise was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
She leaves her devoted husband of 38 years Witold “Vito” Zuschlag; three daughters, Tara J. Zuschlag, Caitlin M. Zuschlag, and Christina M. Zuschlag, all of Worcester; five sisters, Karen A. Wilson and her husband Daniel of Rutland, Sandra J. O’Brien and her husband Robert of Worcester, Kimberly C. Hilow and her husband Stephen of Worcester, Susan M. Rousseau and her husband David of Worcester, Diane M. McNamara of Worcester; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Walter and Suzanne Zuschlag of Shakopee, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Killeen, Texas, daughter of the late Wilbrod E. and Lorraine M. (Dubois) Rioux. She lived in Worcester most of her life and was a graduate of North High School. She also furthered her education to pursue her dream of a career in early childhood education.
Denise and her father were the co-owners of the former D and D Videos on Hamilton Street and later on Lincoln Street. She also worked as an educator for 25 years until she began her battle with cancer. She fought with grace, dignity and optimism and will be remembered for her love of hosting family gatherings and the Christmas season. Her love of teaching children was only surpassed by the love she had for her family, and her kindness will not be forgotten.
Funeral Services were held at the convenience of the family. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. There were no calling hours.
