Kenneth George Wood, 66 years of Franklin passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, RI. He was the beloved husband for 39 years to Caryn (Hubbard) Wood.
Born on July 29, 1951 in Newark, NJ he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Chiffriller) Wood.
Kenneth grew up in Bloomfield and Glen Ridge, NJ and graduated from Glen Ridge High School with the class of 1969. After graduation he attended Newark School of Engineering before transferring to Nichols College in Dudley, MA where he graduated in 1974 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.
Before his retirement, Ken worked as a Sales Representative for various companies.
In his spare time, Kenneth was an amateur Ham Radio Operator with the call sign WA1QMY. He also loved fixing cars and anything with an engine. He cherished the summers he spent on Cape Cod with his family and adored his grandchildren who called him “Papa”.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Holland and her husband Bryan of Essex, VT and his son, John Wood and his wife Lauren of Bellingham; his grandchildren, Claire, Connor, and Charlie Holland, and Ryan Wood. He is also survived by his siblings Steven Wood of AZ, Carolyn Johannessen of Mansfield, and George “Chip” Wood of CA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Thursday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m at St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Square in Franklin. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
