Paul Anthony Almeida, 66, of New Bedford died Sunday, May 13, 2018 comfortably at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Pedro A. and Joan M. (Gomes) Almeida, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Paul was an avid swimmer and loved the water. He also enjoyed having cookouts with his family.
He is survived by five children, Shannon, Attib, Atiim, and Kiloa Almeida and Hassan Souto; five brothers, Pedro, David, Mark, Ralph, and Robert Almeida; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen Almeida.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be private. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
