Obituary

Dorothy A. Hogan, 96, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 after a period of declining health. She was a resident of Our Lady’s Haven in Fairhaven at the time of her death and a prior resident of Autumn Glen in Dartmouth.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late James J. and Margaret M. (Coughlin) Hogan, she lived in New Bedford most of her life. She was a communicant of Saint Lawrence Martyr Church in New Bedford.

She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1939, and the Kinyon-Campbell Business School. She also attended the Rhode Island School of Design and Stonehill College.

Dorothy was an employee of Commonwealth Electric Company for 29 years until her retirement in 1991.

She enjoyed traveling; her overseas trips included England, Portugal, Spain and multiple trips to Ireland. Dorothy was quite the artist; she painted a portrait of her mother and a number of other paintings. She also enjoyed craftwork and was quite proud of her talent. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Dorothy is survived by several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her two sisters, Margaret and Agnes.

The family of Dorothy A. Hogan would like to thank the staff at Our Lady’s Haven, Beacon Hospice and Autumn Glen for the care, love and affection shown to her while under their care.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 10 A.M. at Saint Lawrence Martyr Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass and burial service.
