Worcester Hector J. Letourneau, 94, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 12th with his family by his side in the Saint Francis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
Hector is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eveline R. (Madore) Letourneau; two sons, Louis Letourneau and his wife, Kathy of Worcester and Marc Letourneau and his longtime companion, Cheryl Mara of Shrewsbury; four daughters, Jeannine Whittemore of Shrewsbury, Laurette Erickson of Worcester, Claire Boudrieau and her husband, Tim of Jaffrey, NH and Alice Letourneau of Worcester; 1 brother, Leo Letourneau; four sisters, Alice Letourneau, Marie Rose Couture, Gloria Trembley and Anita Burque; 21 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Mr. Letourneau was born in Worcester, son of the late William and Dora (Lemay) Letourneau and is also predeceased by a daughter, Paula Letourneau and 6 brothers and sisters. Hector is a graduate of the former Worcester Boys Trade High School in Worcester and proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He worked for many years in the automotive industry as a body man for Gervais Auto Body and also for himself at Letourneau’s Auto Body. Hector was a member of the former Main South American Legion Post #341 and the Grafton Hill American Legion Post #323
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Saint Francis Home and Notre Dame Hospice for the exceptional love and care that was given to Hector while he was there.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 17th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Sacred Heart- Saint Catherine of Sweden Church 600 Cambridge Street. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 16th from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
