Roger R. Thibault, age 82 of Chicopee, passed away on May 11, 2018 at Wingate of West Springfield. Roger was born in New Britain, CT to the late Joseph and Adeline (Roy) Thibault. He was educated in the Springfield schools and has been a resident of Chicopee since 1973. Roger worked as a maintenance supervisor at Beekman Place Estates in Agawam for 23 years. He was also a self- employed painter and was in the real estate business for several years most recently worked for Knight Realty Inc. Roger was a communicant of St Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. He was an active member of the Pastime Club and also spent some time volunteering at the Chicopee Lodge of Elks. He loved polka dancing and lived his life to the fullest. Roger is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy, son, Rene of West Springfield, 3 daughters, Yvonne Ghazarian of Springfield, Debra Couture of Indian Orchard and Pauline Picard of Agawam, 3 brothers Girard of Westfield, Roland of Granby and Norman of Agawam and a sister Jeanette Morency of Ludlow, several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also a step son David Benben and 3 step daughters Mary Benben, Carol Grincavitch and Cathleen Benben. Roger was predeceased by his daughter Theresa Babbin in 1990 and his son Gary in 2017. The family would like to give a special thanks to the D’Amour Cancer Center and to Baystate Hospice for the care and comfort they gave Roger during this difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held on Fri, May 18, 2018 at 12 noon at Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee. Burial is private. Calling Hours will be held on the morning of the Memorial Service Fri, May 18, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
