The funeral services for Pondie Chappell, 78, of Ashburn, Ga. will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Turner County. Mr. Chappell passed away Friday, May 11, 20l8 after an extended illness.
The son of the late Lester Harry and Leona Mildred Howell Chappell, he was born in Pierce County, Georgia on April 15, 1940. He was retired from Proctor and Gamble. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Blackshear, Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy T. Chappell, Ashburn, Ga., son Pondie Lee (Amy) Chappell of Sylvester, Ga., daughter, Penny Marie Chappell of Ashburn Ga., two brothers, Fred Thomas Chappell of Alma, Ga. and Waylon Shafter Chappell of Cumberland Furnace , TN., one sister, Paulette Argenia (John) Weaks, Nashville, TN., one grandchild, Tanner Lamar Chappell of Sylvester, Ga.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, May 12, 2018 from five until seven at Perry Funeral Chapel.
