Obituary

Edward R. Lembo,94, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, May 10, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Framingham, May 25,1923, he had lived in Franklin since 1973.

He was a graduate of Framingham High School in 1941, Boston College in 1945 and Boston College Law School in 1953.

Mr. Lembo had been a member of the Massachusetts Bar and Federal Bar since 1953 with over 53 years of active law practice. For many years he maintained law offices in Framingham with his late brother, Peter Lembo.

Later he expanded his practice statewide in his representation of many police chiefs of Massachusetts municipalities who conflicted with elected officials concerning jurisdiction over their departments. He was retained by the Association of Massachusetts Police Chiefs to litigate this conflict, resulting in two decisions of first impression handed down by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, thereby settling the conflict between professional police chiefs and elected officials.
He also represented the statewide towing association for many years.

After retiring from full practice, he continued to practice law serving those in need, pro bono.

He locally served on the Franklin Zoning Board of Appeals and was Chairman of the Franklin Planning Board.

Ed served in the Navy during World War II.
Ed enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

In 1973 he and his wife Gail, founded the Franklin Country Day Camp which continues in operation today.

In addition to his wife Gail V. (Lombard) Lembo, he is also survived by his daughter Susie, step sons Steven and Brent, along with 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

There will be no public services held or calling hours per his wishes.
