Mary E. (McCormack) Johnson, age 89, of Brockton, died May 2, 2018 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Mary was the wife of the late Kenneth I. Johnson. Born and raised in West Allis, WI, she was the daughter of the late James and Eileen (Reilly) McCormack. Mary was a graduate of Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI and received her BS degree in Occupational Therapy. For over 30 years she was an Occupational Therapist at the Brockton VA Medical Center, retiring in 1994 as Chief of Staff. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of the Jubilate Chorale. Mary was an avid gardener, loved to cook, play piano, scrabble and enjoyed adding to her Mary Engelbreit collection. Mary loved crafts and developed ceramic programs for veterans at various hospitals as part of their treatment. She was especially proud of her Catholic faith, the Veneration of Mary the Mother of God, and for her work done for war veterans.
Mary is survived by her children Christopher I. Johnson and his wife Linda of Naples, FL, Linnea E. Johnson of Berkley, MA, Thomas O. Cotton of Brockton, and Tracey C. Featherson of Whitney, TX; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late William and Robert McCormack.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday, May 10, from 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 8am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
