James M. Sheets passed in peace, Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the age of 81. A resident of Inverness, FL and formerly a long time resident of Franklin, MA.
Jim was born January 27, 1937 and raised in St. Louis, MO. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from June 24, 1955 to June 23, 1963. Upon completion of his Navy tour Jim went on to achieve his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Business from Northeastern University. While earning these degrees he was head of the Physics Department at Brandeis University where he retired at 40 years of service.
Jim was an active participant in the Town of Franklin, volunteering his time coaching soccer and baseball. He ultimately became a Board Member of the soccer organization.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife Estelle "Terry". Loving father of daughter Rhonda Dutton (husband James) of Woonsocket, RI, son, Mark (wife Dana) of Suwanee, GA, and daughter Denise Weaver (husband Jeff) of Franklin, MA. Proud grandfather of Heather, Tiffany, Ashley, Mark, Taylor, Brett, Copper and Riley. Great grandfather to Tegan. Jim is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jim will be fondly remembered by family friends as a loving husband, father and proud patriot and US Navy Veteran.
Friends and family may call from 5-8 pm, Tuesday, May 8 at Oteri's Funeral Home 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA. A 10 am celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, May 9th at St. Mary's Parish 1 Church Square, Franklin, MA followed by a Military burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
