Obituary

George Francis Fortunato of Lexington, and formerly of Medford, passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2017 at Winchester Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Missick), and his daughter, Georgia Ann (Fortunato) Pasqualone. George, who was born February 3, 1919, was a Navy veteran and one of the seven Fortunato brothers who all saw combat action during WWII. There is a corner in Medford named in honor of the Fortunato Brothers. George was very proud of his military service.

George is survived by one sister, Marion Visconti, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. George had a wonderful sense of humor and was beloved by those who knew him. He was an amazing man who remained active until the end. In recent years he would drive to the Burlington Mall every morning, meet a group of friends, and walk the mall.

On May 31, 2018, at 2 pm, there will be a military Committal Service in the chapel at the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA. Pursuant to George's wishes, this will be the only memorial service, following which the cremated remains of George and his beloved “Annie” will be interred together in a grave near their daughter. All who knew George are invited to attend.
