Obituary


STANDISH- Thomas L. Stover Jr., age 59, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Standish on May 4, 2018.
He was born in Portland on Jan. 20, 1959, a son of the late Thomas Sr. and Patricia (Merrithew) Stover Bird, and graduated from Scarborough High School.
Most recently he worked at Geary’s Brewery in the bottling department.
Anyone who knew Thomas knew that he enjoyed fishing, canoeing, fishing, BBQ's and fishing. Family and friends meant everything to Thomas, and he always looked forward to the yearly family reunions at his home in Standish. Thomas always had his dogs who were treated like his kids.
Thomas had a big heart and was always helping those who needed a hand. 
You always knew where Thomas stood on an issue by his opinion. He always voiced his view right or wrong.
He is survived by his beloved wife- Doris (Calderwood) Stover; stepchildren- Robert Bailey and his wife Valerie of Skowhegan, Rhonda Russo and her husband Greg of Portland, Ray Bailey of Standish, and Dale Bailey of FL; siblings- Patricia Ames and her husband Dana of Buxton and Michael Stover and his wife Veronica of Gorham; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday May 11 from 6 – 8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 12 at 9:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery, Groveville Road in Buxton Center.  Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home website, www.mainefuneral.com
