Gary Kay Giddings, age 79 of Benton City, entered into rest on May 2, 2018 at Chaplaincy Hospice in Kennewick. He passed away surrounded by his son, most of his stepchildren and several grandchildren. He is now free of pain and suffering and filled with peace and love. He was born to William and Nettie (Grover) Giddings on March 28, 1939 in Burt, Iowa. He moved to the Tri Cities where he was a brick mason for over thirty years. He built the white stone on Columbia Center and the many storage building South of Kennewick on 395, black with copper roofs. He built many fireplaces, homes, offices, schools and churches. Later he owned the Biker Bar on the west end of Columbia Park, known as Gary’s Red Eye Saloon at the Richland Y for 10 years.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Dorothy Giddings; his only son, Gary Giddings and wife, Delores of Dallas, Texas; 2 granddaughters; and twin great-grandchildren; his beloved step-children, Shawn and Maeleena Darling, RoxAnn Johanson, Robbie and Sandy Johanson and Clint and Stephanie Johanson; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his only daughter, Karla.
His children and grandchildren spent many days fishing with Grandpa Gary at Neah Bay, Long Beach, many rivers and lakes and many days fishing on Sprague Lake, where Grandpa and Grandma lived.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Darling Central, 704 9th Street in Benton city. Memorial may be made to, the most wonderful place, Chaplaincy Hospice in Kennewick.
