Dorothy Fern Day Lowry, age 93, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her home in Southaven, MS. She was born January 6, 1925 in Pontiac, MI to the late Evert Monroe and Clara Stevenson Day. Dorothy was of Baptist faith. She moved to Detroit, MI at the end of WWII and went to work at an airplane factory. She later married and worked as office manager and bookkeeper for Winter’s Electric Company in Oxford, MS which she and her husband owned. But Dorothy’s true love was caring for children, and she took care of most of the children in Water Valley until her late 70’s.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 7, 2108 at 2:00 pm in the Anchor Baptist Church Cemetery, with Bro. Bill Forsyth officiating.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Brenda Dee (Donald) Henderson of Water Valley, MS and Linda Lee (Perch) Wright of Southaven, MS; her brother, Richard E. (Roseann) Day of Imlay City, MI; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Lowry; her son, Raymond Earl Winters; her sisters, Mary L. O’Dell, Anna Mae Carl, and Jean Zawsolak; and her brother, Kenneth Day.
