Joan F. Taylor, 79, of Higgins Street, Smithfield, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care in Providence. She was the widow of Robert B. Taylor, who died in 1994.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Anna (McGinn) Alves. She had lived in Smithfield for many years.
Joan was a graduate of St. Mary’s of the Visitation in 1956. She had worked as a Career Counselor at the Center in Woonsocket for 12 years before retiring.
She is survived by her children: Kathleen Burns of Wakefield, Robert Taylor of Providence, Scott Taylor of Islip, NY, her grandchildren: Victoria and Robert Burns and her dearest friend of 70 years Gloria Catalfomo. She is predeceased by her sister, Patricia L. Alves.

Her funeral service will be held Monday at 1pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI.
