Obituary

Phyllis A. Bailey (nee Long), age 90 of Twinsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, May 2, 2018. She was born February 22, 1928 in Chesterfield, Indiana and lived most of her life in Anderson, Indiana until she moved to Twinsburg in 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Bailey.

Retired from Anderson Community Schools after many years as a teacher and counselor at Northside Middle School, she also owned Taylor Printing Company in Anderson and Orion’s Belt in Nashville, Indiana.

She was a 1946 graduate of Anderson High School. She earned her BS degree in 1951 from Anderson University and her MA degree in 1959 from Ball State University. She was a member of Park Place Church of God, American Association of University Women, and American Business Women’s Association.

She was the loving mother of children, Thomas (Gayla) Bailey of Palm City, Florida, the late Glenn Bailey, Alberta (Bennie Cochran) Helbling of Anderson, Robert (Teresa Nyboer) Bailey of Anderson and Jane (Philip) Weiss of Twinsburg; dear grandmother of the late Thomas F. (Nancye) Bailey III, Angela Owens, Myrletta (Shawn) Blades, Bryan Bailey, Jaami Bailey, Jacqueline (Brian) West, Vivian (Caleb) Kammel, Gordon Weiss, Peter Weiss; great-grandmother of 14, and great-great-grandmother of four. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Nancy (David) Bailey and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister, Carolyn Mathews and parents, Raymond and Grace Vivian (nee Bonner) Long.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Rd, Anderson, Indiana, with the Rev. Donald Collins officiating. Burial will be in the East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at the funeral home.
