Miguel Gomes (97) of Brockton died May 3rd under hospice care surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Constanca (Resende) Gomes.
He was born in Sao Filipe, Fogo, Cabo Verde son of the late Adelia Gomes and Narciso Cardoso. Miguel was a farmer in his home country of Cabo Verde and loved to play mancala (oril) and the drums.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 4 sons, Narciso Resende Gomes of Cabo Verde, Miguel, Alberto, and Paulino Resende Gomes all of Brockton, 7 daughters, Adelia, Joana Resende Gomes, Ceilia Antunes and Maria Lina Resende all of Brockton, Clarinda Gomes Resende Barros of Cabo Verde, Joana Gomes Resende of New Bedford and Domingas Fatima Resende Gomes of Portgual, 44 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren.
Services from the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel 238 Court Street Brockton Wednesday May 9th at 8 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church 71 East Main Street Brockton at 9 am. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation in the Funeral Home Tuesday May 8th from 5-9 pm.
