Obituary

MACDONALD, Paul M. Jr. Of Belmont, formerly of Malden, died suddenly Sunday April 29, 2018, age 64, at the Mass. General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband of Shelley (Manion) MacDonald, beloved son of Paul and the late Gloria (Iacobucci) MacDonald, stepson of Rosanne MacDonald, son-in-law of Michael Manion and the late Ginger Manion. Loving father of Jennifer (George) Foden, Melissa (Joseph) Rawson, Patricia (Chris) Pupecki, Paul (Janice) MacDonald III, Dana MacDonald, Michael MacDonald (Shannon Kyne, fiancée). Cherished brother of Christine (Robert) Solano, Douglas (Justine) MacDonald, Scott (Patricia) MacDonald Sr., and brother-in-law of Candy (Peter) Costas. Proud grandfather of Ricky, Kendra, Gregory, Ryan, Tyler, Alexis, Cameron, Isabella, Emelia, Max, Julia, Rebecca, Sophia and Paul IV. Dearest uncle to many nephews and nieces and much-loved friend to many.

Known his entire life for his wit and unique sense of humor, Paul never failed to bring a smile to everyone’s face. He was a master wordsmith possessed of an incredible literary background and intellect who created written treasures for many of life’s important moments whether joyous or sorrowful.

Paul’s sense of duty and drive to support his family were unwavering. There are few people who can boast of the work ethic that Paul demonstrated throughout his nearly 50 years in the grocery business. His leadership, concern for his people, and commitment to do the right thing, no matter the personal consequences, were constantly on display. He was known for bold, innovative thinking and had true passion for the business.

Everyone whose life was touched by Paul has been devastated by this unexpected and unimaginable loss. His family takes solace in the knowledge that his children and grandchildren will carry his legacy and talents into the future. Rest in peace, dearest Paul, and fly into the arms of your awaiting mother.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 2nd, 4pm to 8 pm, at the Aram Bedrosian Funeral Home, 558 Mt. Auburn St, Watertown, MA. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 3rd, 11 am, at the St. James Armenian Church, 465 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Paul’s favorite charity.
