Edmund E. Shannon, 59, of New Bedford died unexpectedly Thursday, April 26, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Born in New Bedford, son of Robert and Loretta "Honey" (Mello) Shannon, he lived in New Bedford for all of his life.
Edmund was the founder of Shannon Construction, which he had operated for over 30 years.
He had a giving heart and was involved with both the Fresh Air Children and Paint Your Heart Out programs.
Edmund enjoyed motorcycles, sports cars, spending time with his family. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughing and joking.
He is survived by his parents; three children, Ricky, Tiffany, and Edmund P. Shannon; five siblings, Deborah Bruggeman, Robert Shannon, Jr., Christopher Shannon, Kelly Pina, and Michele Shannon; five grandchildren, Alexandra, Aaliyah, Lucas, Logan, and Aubrey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Gerry Shannon.
His visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his funeral service at 7 PM. For directions and online guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
