Obituary

Eva May (Czar) Brown, 78, of Franklin, died Sunday April 29, 2018 at Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, following an illness. She was the beloved wife of Bruce Brown, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Somerville, MA on October 4, 1939, a daughter of the late Paul E. Czar, Sr. and Clara L. (Martin) Czar, she was a resident of Franklin since 1969.

Eva was raised and educated in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. She attended cosmetology school in Framingham while raising her family and for many years worked at the Hair Shed in Franklin. After raising her children, she began working at Filene’s in Natick and later retired from Macy’s at the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlboro; where she was employed as a department manager.

Eva was always devoted to her family. Following the death of her father, she helped care for her brothers and sisters. Eva was considered by many to be the matriarch of the family and hosted many family functions at her home throughout the years. Even vacations were family events; she had visited Walt Disney World 23 times and had traveled to California, Italy, England and France. For a number of years the family traveled to Baltimore to watch the Red Sox and annually attended a game at Fenway Park.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Karin Ann Sheridan of Franklin, Brian D. Brown and his fiancé Renee L. Morin of Seekonk, Catherine J. Brown of Franklin and John M. Brown of Hatfield, 2 brothers, Walter Czar of Franklin, Thomas J, Czar and his wife Dianne of Tewksbury, 2 sisters, Catherine Mammola of Franklin and Diane Czar of Billerica and 2 sister-in-laws, Mary Czar of Stoneham and Mackaline Czar of Coeburn, West Virginia.

Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Jessica Driver and her husband Ben, Philip Sheridan, Taylor Brown and his fiancé Claire LaFrance, Christopher Brown, Jake Brown, Molly-Catherine Brown and great grandchildren, Sage & Reese Driver and Cassidy Brown.

She was the sister of the late Paul E. Czar, Jr., William Czar and Paulette Czar.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Thursday May 3rd, at 10 am in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home.
