Frank G. Giovanangelo, of Wakefield, formerly of North Reading, passed away peacefully at his home, on Saturday, April 28th. He was 84.
Born in Somerville, and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Raphaela (Mechino) Giovanangelo. After graduating from high school in 1951, Frank enlisted into the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. Frank was honorably discharged on September 15, 1956. Following the service, Frank worked for Polaroid until his retirement in 1998.
In his spare time, Frank was a photographer and enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He loved to travel, and some of his favorite places were Yellow Stone, Rome and Florence, Italy, and taking his grandchildren to Disney. Frank was a kind person and a true gentleman. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.
Frank was the beloved husband of Joyce (Rhoades) Mullane, and the late Jeanette (Chapman) Giovanangelo. He was the father of Gerald Giovanangelo of Saugus, and step-father of Mark Mullane and his wife Melissa of Sandown, New Hampshire. Frank was the loving grandfather of Jeanette and Brynne Giovanangelo, Olivia and Ella Mullane, and the dear brother of the late Tina Farese and Leo Giovanangelo. He is also survived by his cousin, Angela Giovannangelo of Belmont.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Friday, May 4th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer Street, Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with interment and military honors at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
