Obituary

Robert A. Donahue, 86, of Susan Avenue, Johnston, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Catherine “Claire” (Bourassa) Donahue. They had been married for 62 years.

Born in Walpole, MA, a son of the late William B. and Gladys (Turner) Donahue. He had lived in Johnston since 1965.

He was a proud graduate of Classical High School in Providence. He had been a Supervisor at C.J. Fox in Providence for 44 years before retiring.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.

Besides his wife he leaves his sons, Robert F. Donahue and his wife Patty of Barrington, Richard A. Donahue and his wife Lorna of Kaufman, Texas, Steven R. Donahue and his wife Cindy of Glocester and Curtis A. Donahue and his wife Deborah of Glocester, his 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Joyce Palazzo of Vero Beach, Florida. He was the grandfather of the late Daniel Donahue, brother of the late William, Richard and Donald Donahue. He also leaves sisters-in-law Sylvia Donahue of Cranston and Phyllis Donahue of Bristol and nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

A Mass of Christian burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 9:30am in St. Eugene Church, Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Wednesday 3-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
