Celia M. (Silva) Gomes, 102, of New Bedford died April 28, 2018 peacefully at Sarah Brayton Nursing Home.
She was the wife of the late Alfred Gomes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Pedro M. DeBarros and Mary (Silva) Borges, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Anthony A. Gomes of New Bedford and Alfred J. Gomes, Jr. and his wife Helen of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Alfred Gomes, III and his wife Heatha, Corey Gomes, and Nathan Gomes; 5 great-grandchildren, Khalid Gomes, Al-lanna Gomes, Teyana Gomes, Nevaeh Gomes, and Nathan Gomes, Jr.; and her close friend, Bernice McAlevey.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, May 4th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 3rd from 5-8 PM.
