Gabriel Parra Gonzalez was born on November 2, 1935 in Miguel Negrete, Durango, Mexico to Aurelia Parra Lopez and Francisco Gonzalez Quezeda. Gabriel spent his youth in Miguel Negrete. He moved to Texas at the age of 18 to work with his dad as a farm laborer. In 1958 he married Delia Castillo and they made their home in Edinburg, Texas. They raised 4 children there until they moved to Washington in 1966. Gabriel continued working as a farm laborer with Ciprano Esparza and Ken Lewis. They had their fifth child in 1979. In 1988, Gabriel was involved in a car accident and became disabled and retired.
Gabriel enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling to Texas, Mexico and California to visit his sisters and other relatives. When Gabriel was not traveling he was busy watching his grandkids play various sports. Gabriel especially enjoyed picking up his grandkids after school every Wednesday so they could spend time with Grandma and Grandpa.
Gabriel continued to live in Prosser until he passed away on April 25, 2018 at the age of 82.
Gabriel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Delia; his children and their family, Juan (Kim) Gonzalez, Mariann, Francisco, Elaina, Rosie (David) Sparks, Joshua (Alyssa), Miranda (Ruben), Florinda Paez (Scott), Andy (Iris), Gina, Alex, J.R., Jake, Herlinda (Mario) Ledesma, Nicole (Donovan), Lauren, David, Adrian (Dina) Gonzalez, Aiden, A.J., Aaron; great-grandchildren, Jaylah, Ryder, Austin, Kaden and Raiden; his sisters, Teresa, Lola (Ricardo) and
Sylvia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Gonzalez.
Viewing will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Concluding services and burial will follow at the Prosser Cemetery.
