Erick H. David, age 82, of Brockton, died unexpectedly April 24, 2018 at Boston Medical Center. Erick was the husband for 49 years of Viergela (Samedi) David. He was born, raised and educated in Jacmel, Haiti, a son of the late Efton David and Leonie Geslin. Immigrating to the United States in 1967, Erick made his home first in New York and then in Dorchester. He had been a resident of Brockton for the past 38 years. Upon entering the United States, Erick learned to become an automotive mechanic. He had been employed in Cambridge and retired from Victory Ford in Stoughton 20 years ago. While living in Brockton, he was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church and Christ the King Parish. He enjoyed life with his grandchildren, family and friends and called himself the “Big Liberal.” He traveled to many European countries and made many trips to Haiti to visit family members. Erick loved to watch soccer, Bruins hockey, wrestling, and the news. He also loved listening to his native Haitian music.
In addition to his wife, Erick is survived by his three sons, Stanley David (BPD) of East Bridgewater, Gregory David of West Bridgewater and Daniel David of Holbrook and five grandchildren Lilly, Keira, Marcus, Samara and Isiah David. He also leaves brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins both here in the United States and Haiti.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday, May 4, 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
