Thelma P. (Collins) Candeias, 85, of Westport passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Our Lady's Haven, Fairhaven. She was the wife of Alfred F. Candeias.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Ephriam L. and Louise M. (Potter) Collins, she had lived in Fall River until the age of 10 prior to moving to Westport. She was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. She had worked as a Westport Reserve Police Matron, worked for the Westport School Department Cafeteria and also worked as a cashier for Lees Supermarket. Mrs. Candeias enjoyed collecting plates.
Including her husband, she is survived by a son: Kevin F. Candeias and his wife Bonnie of Lakeville, MA; a daughter: Karen L. Farias of Westport; a brother: Robert F. Collins and his wife Hope of Westport; a sister: Muriel E. Bibeau; 5 grandchildren: Michael, Kristen, Rachael, Dean and Cherilyn; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was mother of the late Kenneth M. Candeias, sister of the late Shirley E. Lees and mother-in-law of the late Paul C. Farias.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, April 30, 2018 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 10 AM.
Calling hours Sunday 4 - 6 PM.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
