James T. Griffin of Canton passed away April 20th at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Born and raised in Quincy, he graduated from Quincy High School and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was the retired Past President and Business Representative of Local # 4 International Union of Operating Engineer’s, Boston. Jim was a Boxer while in the Navy and was an avid Boxing fan that enjoyed watching boxing matches on television. He has lived in Canton for the last 30 years and was a member of the Canton Senior Men’s Club. Beloved husband of Nancy M. (Burke). Father of James Griffin and his wife Rowena of Anaheim, CA, Martin Griffin of Venice, CA and the late Stephen Griffin. Step-father of Peter Melvin of Canton, John Melvin and his wife Lisa of Berkley and Thomas Melvin and his wife Mary of Easton. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Wednesday morning at 10:30. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Wednesday morning prior to the mass from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
