Nicholas M. “Nicky” Dangelo 88, of Franklin, died peacefully, Tuesday April 24, 2018 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center-University Campus in Worcester, several hours after his arrival there. He was the beloved husband of Marion R. (Herrick) Dangelo.
Born in Franklin, October 26, 1929 a son of the late Antonio and Teresa C. (Piccirilli) Dangelo, he was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a lifelong resident.
For more than 30 years, Mr. Dangelo served the Town of Franklin, he was a retired police officer and was well known in the downtown area where he would patrol the streets everyday. He also worked in the water department at the Department of Public Works. Following his retirement from the town, he worked as the custodian at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin and as a security, parking and traffic control officer at the former Benjamin Franklin Savings Bank on Main Street. In his earlier days, he worked at Dean Jr. College, Kendall Mills in Walpole, and at the Foxboro Co.
He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, he enjoyed collecting antique cars, and spending time with his family and friends at the Dangelo vacation home in Harmony, Maine.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years is his daughter, Diane E. Dangelo of Franklin, and 2 sisters, Amelia “Carmie” Chiodetti and Eileen L. Clifford of Franklin.
He was the brother of the late Thomas A. and John A. Dangelo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday April 28th, at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Interment will follow in the family lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
