Obituary

Virginia M. “Cookie” (Natola) Lynch, of Medford, formerly of Charlestown, passed away on Tuesday, April 24th at the Life Care Center of Stoneham. She was 75.

Born in Boston and raised in Charlestown, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale F. and Virginia C. (Martin) Natola. Cookie attended the Girls Latin High School and graduated from Charlestown High School with the Class of 1960. She was an intelligent person and became an accountant in the banking industry, where she worked until retirement. In 1974, she and her late husband purchased their home in Medford, where she has lived for 44 years.

Cookie was a devout Catholic, who lived her life in accordance with the values of faith, hope and charity. She was devoted to her parish, St. Francis of Assisi in Medford and loved volunteering her time to help with the church food pantry. Cookie was a selfless person that loved and cared about the well-being of others.

In Cookie’s spare time, she enjoyed reading the Boston Globe and mystery novels by James Patterson. Cookie loved going to Hampton Beach and swimming in the ocean. She was an avid traveler; some of her favorite trips were to Italy, Alaska and Bermuda. Cookie loved animals, especially her dear cat, Razzie. Though Razzie passed away many years ago, Cookie always reserved a special place in her heart for her.

Cookie was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth A. Lynch, who passed away in 2016. The two were married on September 21, 1963 at St. Mary’s Church in Charlestown. Together they shared 53 loving years of marriage. Cookie was the devoted sister of Anthony Natola and his wife Jane of Reading, Diane Garceau and her husband Billy of New Hampshire, the late Pasquale F. Natola Jr. and his surviving wife Dorothy of Revere and the late James M. Natola. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Tuesday, May 1st at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
