Worcester – Carl N. Leonard, 70, of Worcester, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 25th with his family by his side after a battle with cancer.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his 3 daughters, Carlotte Leonard of Salisbury, MD, Carla Carpenter of Worcester and Tammi Carpenter of Worcester; his long time fiancée, Minnie Campbell of Worcester; 5 brothers, Roy Leonard of Berlin, MD, Wilson Leonard of East Hartford, CT, Fred Jarmon of Bishopville, MD, Ronald Leonard of Parsonsburg, MD and Victor Leonard of Riverdale, MD; a sister, Julia Purnell of Berlin, MD; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Carl was born in Berlin, MD son of the late William C. and Mary C. (Jarmon) Leonard and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Carl worked for many years with the City of Worcester at both Hope Cemetery and at the former Worcester City Hospital. Mr. Leonard also worked as a chef at the former Clark Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Leonard enjoyed his visits and many outings with his close friends, Leon Bridell and John Albert Purnell. He also liked to take trips to visit his family in Maryland, spending time with his family and friends and fishing with his daughters when they were younger.
Calling hours for Carl will be held on Monday, April 30th from 5 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street. Burial will be private and memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Leonard may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute PO Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284.
