CHICOPEE ~ Doris E. (Forcier) Piquette, 91, of Providence Place in Holyoke and a former longtime resident of 6th Avenue in the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 23, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on January 15, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Angelina (Chenevert) Forcier. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and had lived in Holyoke until moving to Fairview in November of 1953. She lived in Fairview for many years until moving to Providence Place in Holyoke on June 3, 2013. Since moving to Providence Place in Holyoke, Doris was able to live comfortably, attend many activities and made many new friends. At the age of 15, she began her lifelong career at Philip Hano Company, now Hano Business Forms, in Holyoke where she worked for 44 years before retiring in 1986 as a Supervisor and Assistant Manager in Quality Control. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Dennis J. Piquette who was Called Home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2012. They were married at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke on May 17, 1947 and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving daughter-in-law, Susan Marie Lak of Wilbraham; her two cherished grandchildren, Troy M. Piquette and his partner, Jana Hayden, and Kara A. Alman and her partner, Kevin Ferguson, all of Ware; her cherished great-granddaughter, Aislynn Alman of Ware; and her many dear nephews and nieces including Rick and Brenda Gelinas of Chicopee, Ann Forcier and her husband, Day Lonewolf Carroll, of Orange and Sandy Byers of Florida; and her cousins, many friends and extended members of the Piquette and Forcier families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her beloved son, David B. “Captain Dave” Piquette who was Called Home on November 14, 2005; her two dear brothers, Arthur and Wilfred Forcier; her four dear sisters, Blanche Mercure, Rose Gelinas, Edna Hutchins and Lillian Flynn; her dear brother-in-law, Robert Flynn; and her dear sister-in-law, Elaine Piquette. Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 1 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Prayer Service at Precious Blood Cemetery, 65 Willimansett Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
