Obituary

D. Scott Wilkins, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Pendleton, Indiana, embraced in the arms of his family, on Monday, April 23, 2018.

Scott was born on April 3, 1940 in Kingman, Indiana, the son of Herschel and Leola (Kendall) Wilkins. He was a 1959 graduate of Kingman High School and a graduate of the Indiana Mortuary College, which led to his 50 year career as a loving and compassionate funeral director with Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.

Scott loved his church family and was an active member of Madison Park Church of God. He was a former member of the Anderson Lions Club and later became a member of Anderson Rotary Club and was honored by being named a Paul Harris Fellow. Scott was a Master Gardener and treasured the time spent in his garden. At one time he was dubbed "Andersons Mum Man" as he raised and sold gorgeous mums from his garden. Scott loved to dance, and even after the loss of his leg to cancer, he still danced from his wheel chair! He was proud to be a cancer survivor! Most of all Scott was a kind and compassionate man, who loved people. He never met a stranger and he was never without a story to share with those he met.

He is survived by his wife, Marita (Austin) Johnson Wilkins, who he married November 18, 1995; his children, Rebecca (Landis) Wilkins Parker of Plainfield, David (Denise) Wilkins of Anderson, Robert Aaron (Debbie) Wilkins of Steelville, MO, Shallen (Chris) Johnson Atkins of McCordsville, Leah (Troy) Wilkins Robertson of Fishers, Shawn (Jennifer) Johnson of Lafayette, and Benjamin (Leslie) Wilkins of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren, Emilie Parker, Benjamin Levi Parker, Alicia (Joshua) Trennepohl Morrow, Dillion Wilkins, Jordan Wilkins, Alec Wilkins, Jared Wilkins, Joshua Wilkins, Savannah Atkins, Logan Atkins, Calvin Atkins, Claire Robertson, Elliot Robertson, Oliver Robertson and Allyson Wiger; two great grandchildren, Lydhea Wilkins and Freya Morrow; 2 sisters, Virginia Metsger of Indianapolis and Bette Vogel of Champagne, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and his furry companions, Bentley and Winston.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Geraldine "Geri" Stiers Wilkins, two brothers, Robert and Kenneth, a sister, Glenna Moran, a grandson, Zachary Parker and a great granddaughter, Abagail Morrow.
