George J. Lucas, 92, of Franklin passed away peacefully on April 23, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to the late Anna (Cerullo).
Born in Boston on September 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys (Midgely) Lucas.
George was a resident of Franklin for 54 years.
He was the devoted father of Dorothy Cole and her late husband John, Diane Souza and her husband Jerry, Susan Petitt and her husband Jim, Julie, Judy Braley and her husband Dana, as well as his grandchildren Jessica, Rachel, Sarah and great grandchildren Madison and Max.
A proud American, George joined the United States Navy and served during WWII, The Korean War and Vietnam and received three battle stars. He served 20 years and was honorably discharged in November 1963. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as an Industrial Engineer for the Needham School Department for 27 years.
George was a life member at the Franklin Elks and a member of the American Legion, VFW and Amvets. He loved watching the Bruins, dancing to Tony Bennett, Cape Cod Beaches and living life to its fullest. Above all else, he loved his family and he cherished his many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, April 27 at 9:15 a.m. from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin ( www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be held privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m.
