Obituary

William “Glen” McBrayer, 86, of Tifton passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Wayside Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Josh Campbell officiating. Mr. McBrayer will be laid to rest at Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 24, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Hal McBrayer, Kenny McBrayer, Scott McBrayer, Andy Gill, Tony McBrayer, Michael Smith, Mark Gill and Allen McBrayer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold and Maggie Tawzer, Harmon and Juanita Tawzer, Glynn Tawzer, Coy and Carolyn Tawzer, Ruth Hall, Gus and Diane Upshaw and Randall and Debra Moore.

Born April 9, 1932 in Tift County, Mr. McBrayer was the son of the late Loomis U. McBrayer and Nina Arrington McBrayer. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde McBrayer, Elbert McBrayer and Hubert McBrayer; and one sister, Kathryn Arnold. Before retiring, he worked as the superintendent of grounds at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Tifton and a veteran of the United States Army. During his service, he was stationed in Germany and France.

Mr. McBrayer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Tawzer McBrayer of Tifton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Glenda Thomas, Teresa and Mike Williams and Nancy and Jerry Brannen, all of Tifton; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Loyd McBrayer of Douglasville, Royce and Jan McBrayer and Troy and Frances McBrayer, all of Tifton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Louise and Billy Smith and Faye Roberts, all of Tifton; two sisters-in-law, Inez McBrayer and Bobbie McBrayer, both of Tifton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jill and Richy Grimes, Gentry and Tracey Cater, Adam Brannen, Cari and James Aultman and Tara Williams; three great-grandchildren, Blakeleigh Cater, Jared Grimes and Tanner Grimes; and his special care-givers, Candice White and Donetha Newsome.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, P. O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793.
