Edwin Conrad Simonsen, went to be with the Lord April 17, 2018, at Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL. He is predeceased by his wife and best friend, Stephanie Simonsen.
Edwin was born in Boston, MA on January 12, 1930 to Andrew and Agnes (Petersen) Simonsen. He was a resident of Derry, NH and wintered in Volusia county, FL for many years. Edwin was enlisted in the 82nd airborne.
Edwin was in his 20’s when he opened “Ace Motor Sales” in Derry, NH, which operated until the early 1970’s. He then built Hidden Valley RV Park, LLC in Derry, NH. While wintering in Florida, he found that he enjoyed golf and he decided to design and build a 9 hole par 3 golf course in the 1990’s. In 2000 he designed and built an 18 hole championship golf course, which opened in 2003. It is now known as Hidden Valley Golf Course, LLC.
Edwin was an avid pilot and a worldwide traveler. He would fly with his two buddies, George Grinnell and Ben Adams. They would fly to Sanford, ME for breakfast on Sunday mornings.
Family members include his son, Andrew Simonsen, his wife Linda, of Derry, NH and New Smyrna Beach, FL, Catherine Kierstead, of Derry, NH and Palm City, FL, Lauri Simonsen, her husband Martin Dakis of Port St. Lucie, FL and Sandra Simonsen, of New Smyrna beach, FL, step-son Richard Robarge of Northfield, NH and step-daughter Pattie Anne O’connell of Maumelle, AR, together with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, April 27th at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A church service will be on April 28th at 11:00 am at Central Congregation Church, 14 Crescent St., Derry, NH. Lunch will follow at the church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Sonshine Soup Kitchen in Derry, NH, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
