Jane M. (Allerby) Clifford, age 74, of Brockton, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, Friday, April 20, 2018, following a brief illness. Jane was the loving wife for 54 years of Michael F. Clifford. Lifelong of Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Milton R. and Rita K. (Cloutier) Allerby, Sr. A graduate of Sacred Heart and Brockton High Schools, Jane had been employed as an art teacher and librarian at Sacred Heart School and Trinity Catholic Academy since 1987 and was known for her steadfast dedication to her many students. She was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and then Christ the King Parish and a member of Sisters of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. Jane’s family was her pride and joy. Spending time with them and on Cape Cod were special to her. She also enjoyed ceramics, arts & crafts and was the director of the Sacred Heart School and Trinity Catholic Academy Drama Clubs.
Jane was the mother of Michael F., Jr. and his wife Jill of Brockton, Matthew and his wife Kelly of Middleborough and Courtney of Brockton; grandmother of Daniel, Shamus, Matthew, Jr., Jack and Ryan Clifford, Tyler Stewart, Bryana Bitto and Zachary, Gavin and Avery Clifford. She was the sister of Denise Carlson of Florida and the late Joseph Peter Allerby and Milton R. Allerby, Jr.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9am for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 10am. Cremation to follow.
