Funeral services for Wayne E. Blue, 81, of Sycamore, Ga., will be held, Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Ashburn First Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. Mr. Blue passed away Saturday, April 21 after an extended illness. Interment will be private.
The son of the late Rhodes Ellsworth Blue and Wyolene Ellis Blue, he was born in Turner County on November 30, 1936. He was a member of Ashburn First Baptist Church; long time member of the Fire Ant Festival Committee and selected as Turner County Citizen of the Year in 2014. Mr. Blue was an Eagle Scout and was a Scout Master for many years in Virginia and Georgia. He received his Bachelors Degree at Mercer University which he loved. He was a proud citizen and loved his home of Turner County where he never met a stranger. He was a devoted volunteer for any organization or anyone who was in need which earned him the Turner County Volunteer of the Year.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Wayne Blue of Whitesburg, GA; John Michael Blue of Tifton, GA; one daughter, Sherri Lynn (Jerry) Simmons of Chula, GA; one brother, Allen (Sandra) Blue of Ashburn, GA; one sister, Donna B. Haggerty of Marietta, GA. The love of his life was his 42 grandchildren and great-grandchildren which he had the honor of taking most of them to Disney World.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn, GA.
